Christopher (Chris) Evers
Technical Representative Pavement Technology, Inc. Vero Beach, Florid
Christopher (Chris) Evers’s role with Pavement Technology, Inc. includes pavement preservation education and liaising with cities, counties, and private sector clients for asphalt rejuvenation projects in Florida. Over the last decade, he has overseen hundreds of projects preserving more than 3,700 lane miles. Marketing PTI’s new photocatalytic pavement treatment nationally is the most recent responsibility added by PTI. He leads the company’s efforts to introduce “cool pavements” to public works and sustainability departments across the US. He works with numerous local, state, and federal stakeholders, to local environmental groups, the private sector, state DOTs, and federal agencies such as FHWA, EPA, DOE, and the IRS.
Evers has been associated with several significant aviation projects while with PTI. Three projects that he did in conjunction with AVCON Inc. stand out. His work on a challenging issue on the primary runways at Orlando International Airport (MCO) resulted in significant time savings and reduced impact on operations at the world’s seventh-busiest airport. He worked with AVCON engineers to specify a specialty project called SurfCrete to preserve the grooved concrete pavement on the keel (center joint) of two runways. In addition, Evers worked with MCO on a groundbreaking pilot project using PTI’s new smog-eating pavement treatment on the FedEx ramp. Long-term testing has shown reductions in nitrogen oxides between 43% and 57%, significant reductions which could be game-changing for reducing air pollution
In 2014, Evers, Elizabeth Treadway, and Chas Jordan launched the International Public Works Director Roundtable. A two-hour session that encourages directors to interact with each other on a number of different topics, the Roundtable routinely is the top-rated session at PWX – an excellent addition and one which would not have happened without Evers’s vision back in 2012 with the Florida Chapter version. To date, the Roundtable has had a significant impact in helping directors to grow and network with other directors around the country.
