Congratulations Tyler Williams on your selection to attend the 2023-2024 Emerging Leader Academy.

Tyler was born in Tampa and raised in Wesley Chapel, Florida. After graduating from Wiregrass Ranch High School, he went on to earn his AA degree from Pasco-Hernando State College, and his bachelor’s degree in political science and government from the University of Central Florida. In 2021, Tyler began to pursue his master’s degree in public administration at the University of South Florida, and plans to graduate in the fall of 2023. It was shortly after beginning his master’s that Tyler was introduced to the wide world of public works. He secured a summer internship with the City of Zephyrhills, and worked closely with the organization’s Public Works Director. What piqued his interest the most was how imperative it was that the City’s Public Works Department worked with other departments to get things done. In March of 2023, Tyler finally moved away from his long-time home of Wesley Chapel after being offered the incredible opportunity to work for the City of Winter Haven’s Public Works Department. His current title is Business and Special Initiatives Analyst. In this position, he helps to lead various departmental projects forward, and is able to interact with each division within the department, which includes solid waste, natural resources, streets and drainage, and fleet maintenance. In addition to Tyler’s involvement with public works and the APWA, he is also actively involved in both the FCCMA and ICMA organizations. He currently serves on the FCCMA Awards and Scholarships Committee, and is the treasurer for USF’s ICMA Student Chapter.
